The Dream Trilogy
Fan Fiction is generally disregarded by
many as the useless witterings of teenage girls with a little too much time on
their hands. I have to confess to thinking this myself until I actually
stumbled onto a number of sites on the internet that host some of the best
examples of the genre in the world. Two of these sites can be found in the
Links section of Pylia. I have found that writers
who work within the parameters of an established cannon can often come up with
the most innovative work. Stories can take well
known
characters and situations into places the reader might never have though, and
can explore unlikely situations or minor characters that would otherwise have
been neglected by the cannon. That being said, there is also a great deal
of teenage witterings to be found, but that was what inspired me even more to
write my own adventure in the world of Harry Potter.
'The Dream Trilogy' is (obviously) split into three stories; 'To Dwell On
Dreams,' 'Dream A Little Dream For
Me,' and 'To Dream Or Not To Dream.' This work can be found in the
Writing section of Pylia. The plot in the first
instalment follows Harry as he accidentally transports himself into an alternate
universe where his family were never murdered by Voldemort, but everything else
seems to be going horribly wrong. Harry finds himself thrown into an
unlikely set of events as he once again has to play his role as 'the hero.'
This third of the story is complete, and I have written about half of the second
part, but I have found it increasingly difficult to invest my time into
something that is purely for recreation. Of all the works of fiction I
have started, this is the one I hope to come back to as I feel it is a story
worth telling. However, I feel this is unlikely to happen at present due
to my many work commitments, but maybe one day I will find the time to return to
Harry and the many Universes of The Dream Trilogy.
