Rocka 1999

My drama teacher came up for our theme for '99 from the caption on the '98 poster - "Art In Motion"...so basically each group was a famous piece of artwork brought to life.  I wasn't too impressed.  But hey! This year was the first time our school was place - we came second! We also got Best Concept, Best Hair and Make-Up and Drugs Awareness...again I think, it might have been performer's choice - I wasn't really paying attention coz I was soo hyped about coming second :-) I worked extensively on the costume design this year and I honestly couldn't believe we got piped for the award by a school who had blatantly hired everything from a shop :-( My costume designs (and there were a few!) will be added shortly.  The groups (and  pieces of art) were  Moore, Picasso (my group!), Monet, Hock and Van Gogh (Sunflowers he he!) The soundtrack included something by Faithless (some kinda opera?), "Samba De Janeiro" by Bellini, "Believe" by Cher, "Surfing USA" by The Beach Boys and "Walking on Sunshine" by Katrina and the Waves.

This was the first year we competed against The Wavell School .  They won, they absolutely deserved to and were really nice - we got on great - but if anyone could tell me what on Earth the theme was I'd be most grateful - coz I have no clue to this date! (It had the amazing bit with the bursting out of the cardboard boxes to the Michael Jackson track?!)

Click here to read the report I was asked to do for the school newspaper, bless me! This also got published in some Hampshire schools magazine that went to a whole bunch of schools in the area, which was kinda cool :-)
